RHN Chestnut Honey 920 g – Strong, Dark & Natural | Kestane Balı from Greece
Available in stock (15)
Not for everyone – but irreplaceable for those who know it.
Chestnut honey is not an everyday honey. It is the honey for everyone who truly loves honey: dark, almost black-brown, viscous, with a strong, tart aroma and a long finish. Anyone trying a spoonful of our RHN Chestnut Honey for the first time will either be immediately convinced – or will reach for the milder all-year honey. There are rarely any middle ground positions.
920 g in a jar – a bulk pack for all those who can't get enough of this honey.
What makes chestnut honey so special?
Chestnut honey is a varietal honey – it is almost exclusively obtained from the nectar of chestnut blossoms. The blossoms open for only a few weeks a year, making chestnut honey a seasonal product. Our RHN Chestnut Honey comes from the wild chestnut forests of Turkey, one of the world's most significant chestnut growing regions – naturally harvested, unheated, without additives.
The dark color does not come from processing, but from the flower nectar itself. The darker the honey, the higher the mineral and antioxidant content usually is.
What is the difference between chestnut honey and normal honey?
Normal blossom honey (like our All-Year Honey) is light yellow to golden, mild and sweet – a balanced everyday honey. Chestnut honey is the opposite: dark brown, strong, slightly bitter, with a tart-spicy finish. It has a significantly lower glycemic index than light honey varieties and crystallizes much more slowly – it often remains liquid for months.
What is chestnut honey suitable for?
- Pure – a teaspoon in the morning for an energetic start to the day
- For coughs & sore throats – traditionally used as a natural home remedy
- With cheese – chestnut honey harmonizes perfectly with strong cheeses such as Parmesan, Pecorino, or aged Gouda
- In desserts – as a topping on panna cotta, ice cream, or cheesecake
- For baking – in gingerbread, whole grain bread, or rich cakes
- With tahini – a spoonful of chestnut honey + Bozkır Tahini, pure on bread: more intense and aromatic than with mild honey
920g – the right package size
Chestnut honey crystallizes slower than light honey and, stored in a cool, dark place, easily keeps for 2–3 years. The 920g bulk pack is therefore particularly suitable
For those who prefer to start with a milder honey, our All-Year Honey 400g offers an easier alternative.
